NHTSA Defect Investigation #PE08001 The Office Of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 10 reports that allege loss of brake power-assist on model year (MY) 2005 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with the 5.4L V8 engine.complainants allege that the loss of brake power-assist occurred suddenly and without warning and resulted from a brake booster assembly vacuum hose becoming detached from the intake manifold. At this time, ODI is not aware of any crashes or injuries that have resulted from the alleged defect.however, one complainant did allege that loss of brake power-assist resulted in a loss of vehicle control that prevented the operator from obeying a stop sign.the operator was unable to stop the vehicle using the service brakes and the vehicle continued its forward motion until the automatic transmission gear selector was shifted to the park position. A preliminary evaluation has been opened to assess the scope and safety consequences of the alleged defect.
